While people in all parts of the world are familiar with the wondrous talent of italian craftsmen,their artwork,their architecture,their foods and wines,etc., the one product that has always been held in the highest esteem for its mystical and magical use has been Italian Glass.Venetian or Murano Glass as its known throughout the world comes from a tiny island located just a quick boat trip away from the city of Venice. Here artisans have been producing glass products that have withstood the test of time for centuries. The Ferro family who founded Effetre has withstood the test of time as well. Five hundred years ago the reigning governor or Doge, as he was referred to, declared that all glass producers who had gathered in Venice over a decade must move their craft to the island of Murano for fear that a significant fire would destroy the city of Venice.

| The Ferro family was the third family to build a building, open a furnace and produce glass products that have since been purchased by crown heads of states as well as people from around the world looking for that special treasure as a reminder of the their trip to Italy over those hundreds of years.Today the Ferro family still presides over this vast and important company and has taken the business to heights probably never imagined by their forefathers. The family still has a factory on the island of Murano but the headquarters today resides in Resana,Italy where Effetre produces glass and glass components from a facility that encompasses almost one million square feet of production and warehouse space. Operating on a twenty four hour, seven days a week basis, Effetre produces blown, pressed and centrifugal glass components for their own needs and for thousands of companies around the world. |  |
